3 Tech Trends to Plan for in 2015

Many technology trends in 2015 will rely on some type of interaction with cloud services. Here’s a short-list of strategic trends that analysts are predicting for the new year and beyond:

  • Risk-based security and self-protection – Rather than working toward complete protection as in the past, security positioning through risk assessments is a more realistic goal. Plus, perimeters and firewalls are no longer enough. Every app needs to be self-aware and self-protecting.
  • Software-defined applications and infrastructure – Expanding the digital environment to include the entire physical world will require flexibility, something existing hardware-controlled networks don’t have. Software-defined networks, storage, data centers, and security will make it all work.
  • Cloud/client computing – Cloud is the new environment for elastically scalable, self-service computing. Both internal applications and external applications will be built there. Network and bandwidth costs may continue to favor apps that best use the intelligence and storage of the client device, but more coordination and management will be based in the cloud.
