Success Story: Department of Health Connects New IP Phone System Without High Costs, Complexity, or Disruption

The Challenge

Our client, a local Department of Health, needed to replace its aging PBX and move to an IP phone solution, but felt trapped by the prospect of high network upgrade costs, complex re-cabling, and the potential disruption to its essential healthcare services.

The CTS + NVT Phybridge Approach

We recommended a better path forward by leveraging NVT Phybridge long‑reach Power over Ethernet (PoE) switches, which support IP connections over existing cabling infrastructure instead of forcing a rip-and-replace project. This modernized the department’s communications environment while preserving its prior investment in wiring and minimizing project risk.

Deployed Solution

The 48-port PoLRE managed switches enabled the deployment of 285 IP phones across the main and annex buildings using the existing CAT3-based infrastructure. NVT Phybridge PoLRE switches provide robust power and data over any new or existing single-pair UTP infrastructure with up to four times the reach of standard switches.

Why CTS

This project reflects what CTS delivers for public sector and healthcare customers throughout the region – end-to-end communications solutions deployed without unnecessary cost or disruption.
