Here are a few tips on devising effective passwords:

• Do not use a phone number or extension as the system password.
• Use a random number generator to design a password.
• If your password is easy to remember, then it is no good. Passwords that you can’t remember are best.
• When people leave your organization, immediately revoke access privileges to phone and IT systems.
